4 Disposable Battery Holder (Blue Label). Immediately before typing this up, I finished charging the rechargeable battery pack (green label) with the battery charger, put the charged battery pack in the detector, and confirmed everything works as expected.

I also tested out the detector using the disposable battery holder (blue label). The metal contacts inside the disposable battery holder could probably use a little cleaning since the old alkaline batteries leaked a bit, but I put in eight fresh AA Duracell batteries and the detector ran just fine with it as is.
