This is THE most important thing you can do to make the machine easier to swing. The S shape is already helpful in that area vs a straight shaft, but it is the counterweight that really makes things effortless.
Using a nose heavy machine increases the torque on your elbow when you reach the end of your swing and try and reverse directions. The counterweight balances that out and drastically reduces the torque, eliminating the stress and fatigue of fighting a nose heavy machine.
My preferred coil was the 15 coil and I would swing it 6-8 hours a day sometimes. Well, if you've ever done that with the factory straight shaft, you know thats not a good idea!
I got "tennis elbow" and it got to the point where I thought I'd have to stop detecting for a couple months. I switched over to one of Steve's straight shafts with a counterweight and the problem went away in short order! It really does make a noticeable difference on how easy it is to swing the machine, particularly if using the larger 15" or 18" coils. I got this shaft in a trade for some other gear and never got a chance to try it because I recently bought a Manticore. The shaft has been used once by the original owner for roughly two hours and is in minty condition.
Again, the counterweight is already included. As an FYI, the counterweight is filled with multiple lead shot bags which you can take out and adjust the overall weight to your liking. Some people find that using an empty counterweight works perfect to counterbalance the 6" coil, and a bag or two of shot helps balance out the standard 11" coil. Balance is 100% the key to eliminating pain and fatigue; that's the whole point of the counterweight and why this makes such a huge difference in the amount of time you can swing without getting fatigue or muscle aches.
So if you find yourself tired and sore after minimal swinging with a standard shaft, you should notice a big difference with the counterbalance and S shape shaft system. Upper Carbon Fiber S Shaft. Counterweight and lead shot bags. Compatible with Minelab Equinox 600 / 800.
