This has 1250 ohms of number 28 gauge wire wound onto a 36 inch long steel core. Weighs about 10 pounds, most of the weight is the wire. The unit is very sensitive.

When connected to an ohmmeter and a magnet brought near, you'll see the ohms reading fluctuating. If you connect to a data logging millivolt, meter or data logging ohm and you put the item in motion you can detect buried metal objects and magnetic anomalies. When connected to very sensitive amplifier of 0.1 Hz to 30 Hz you can see geomagnetic storms.
